Wayshowing > Wayfinding

I was reading up about wayfinding and stumbled upon the concept of wayshowing. This idea has been described concretely as signs without signage. Per Mollerup, who coined the term, describes wayshowing in the abstract:

“Wayfinding is what we do when finding our way in unknown quarters. Good wayshowing is user-led, built on how we practice wayfinding.”

Where wayfinding is seeing, wayshowing is drawing. Wayfinding reading, wayshowing writing. Hearing to speaking. Learning to teaching.

In the spirit of the creativity we are trying to capture today, I have included on design team’s attempts at wayshowing. The ideas border on the outlandish, if they do not altogether cross the line. But they, inspire an unabashed creativity we might hope to achieve in our own work.
